The Racing Experience driver set the fastest time in qualifying for round one of the Prototype Cup Germany at the TT Circuit Assen. Five Duqueine D08s in the top five positions.
Markus Pommer (32/Untereisesheim) was unbeatable in qualifying for Saturday's Prototype Cup Germany race at the TT Circuit Assen, securing pole position in the Racing Experience Duqueine D08 with a time of 1:30.019 minutes. "I've always been in the top three lately, but to finally take first place on the grid feels great," cheered the former ADAC GT Masters driver, who shares the cockpit with Gary Hauser (31/LUX). "I already have the Formula 3 lap record here at Assen. Now the LMP3 lap record has been added to that. I'm really happy about that. The track seems to suit me."
"My fastest lap went really well. The Michelin tyres had completely peaked," Pommer continued. "In fact, I started the following lap even a little bit faster. But in turn eight I sat up slightly, so no more improvement was possible in the end."
With a gap of 0.350, second place on the grid went to brand colleagues Matthias Lüthen (42/Hamburg) and Laurents Hörr (25/Gerlingen, both Koiranen Kemppi Motorsport). Hörr, who contested the qualifying, achieved a time of 1:30.369 minutes.
The Duqueine of Oscar Tunjo (27/COL) and Julien Apothéloz (22/CHE, both Van Ommen Racing by DataLab), second in the standings, finished third in qualifying, 0.381 seconds behind. Van Ommen Racing by DataLab teammates Xavier Lloveras (23/ESP) and Gabriela Jílková (28/CZE) finished fourth, 1.252 seconds behind. Valentino Catalano (17/Westheim) and Robin Rogalski (23/POL, both DKR Engineering) completed the top five in another Duqueine.
Saturday's Prototype Cup Germany race at the TT Circuit Assen will start at 2 p.m. and will be shown in German and English on the ADAC Motorsport channel youtube.com/adacmotorsports in a free livestream.
