The second free practice session of the Prototype Cup Germany at the Nürburgring ended with a best time for Konrad Motorsport's Ginetta G61-LT-P3. Axcil Jefferies (28/ZWE) lapped the track in 1:21.468 minutes to lead the field. "We still feel quite new to the LMP3 class. But we are constantly improving and learning. Everything is going in the right direction," explained Jefferies, who shares the cockpit with Maximilian Hackländer (32/Rüthen). "The lap felt quite good overall. But we will certainly be able to improve, as no one goes to the limit in free practice." However, Jefferies did not achieve the absolute best time of the day. Mads Siljehaug (26/NOR, Reiter Engineering) already clocked 1:21.178 minutes in the first free practice.
Jefferies' teammate Hackländer joined the Prototype Cup Germany at short notice before the race weekend. The fast German is particularly known from the ADAC GT Masters. "I have only driven GT3 cars before. So the LMP3 is already a change. For example, the whole car is much stiffer and there is also no ABS," he compares. "I still have to get used to everything a bit at first. But it's a lot of fun."
Second place in the session went to the Duqueine D08 of Oscar Tunjo (26/COL) and Mateo Villagomez (19/ECU, both Rinaldi Racing), 0.221 seconds behind. Third place went to Berkay Besler (23/TUR) and Marvin Dienst (25/Lampertheim, both Toksport WRT). The current championship leaders were 0.446 seconds behind. This meant that cars from all three brands in the first three positions. The well-balanced field thus promises high tension for the two races on Saturday and Sunday.
Matthias Lüthen (41/Hamburg) and Donar Munding (20/Stuttgart, both Mühlner Motorsport) in the Duqueine and Klaus Abbelen (61/Barweiler, Frikadelli Racing) in the Ligier completed the top five of the second session.
On Saturday, the warm-up will start at 9:30 am. This will be followed by the first qualifying session of the Prototype Cup Germany at the Nürburgring at 12:45 pm. Race one will start at 15:45.
